HOW WE
CREATE CHANGE

Summer Intensive Academies. Year-round mentorship.
A proven model that works.

Our Model

Two Programs, One Mission

🏀

Hoops Creating Hope
Summer Academy

Duration: 2 weeks every summer
Students: 400+ per year
Time: 3+ hours daily
Location: Partner Schools

Our flagship program brings together 400+ girl and boy students for an intensive two-week experience combining basketball training, academic and gender equality lessons, and character development. Students attend at no cost, receiving world-class curriculum implemented by coaching from US high school and college athletes, US professional coaches, and Indian coaches.

The academy isn't a basketball camp - it's an educational intervention that energizes using basketball as the vehicle for change in teaching leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.

📚

Crossover Scholars
After-School Program

Duration: Year-round, 3x per week
Students: 100+ students
Partnership: Teach For India
Leadership: Hired* faculty and Crossover alumni (*if funds allow)

Our year-round program provides sustained support through three weekly sessions focusing on engagement, academics, basketball skills, and life lessons. Led by Hoops Creating Hope on-ground faculty and Crossover alumni like Shane Leander (Class of 2012), students receive consistent mentorship and accountability.

In partnership with Teach For India fellows, we track educational progress, attendance rates, engagement, and ensure students have support in pursuing their academic goals.

Our Framework

The Five Pillars

Every lesson, every drill, every session connects back to these five core values we teach on the court and carry into the classroom.

Leadership

Leadership

Empowering students to take initiative, make decisions, and guide their peers both on and off the court.

Gender Equality

Gender Equality

Creating opportunities for girls and boys on equal footing. Basketball levels the playing field in ways traditional sports cannot.

Character

Character

Building resilience, integrity, and perseverance. How you handle losses matters more than how you handle wins.

Teamwork

Teamwork

Teaching collaboration and collective goals. Success requires trust, communication, and sacrifice for the team.

Communication

Communication

Developing the ability to express ideas clearly, listen actively, and give constructive feedback on and off the court.
